Un «Persiles» contrahecho: la edición de Pamplona, 1629

The edition of Los trabajos de Persiles y Sigismunda (Pamplona: Nicolás de Asiáin, 1629) is analysed on the basis of three copies in order to demon-strate that it is a counterfeit printing. It is argued, among other reasons, that Nicolás de Asiáin had already died in 1622. Furthermore, it is hypothesised that this illegal edition was published in a Sevillian workshop (Francisco de Lira, Simón Fajardo or Manuel de Sande), as it exhibits a similar pattern to other works printed by them between 1625 and 1634, and shares the same woodcut motifs

It is argued, among other reasons, that Nicolás de Asiáin had already died in 1622.
