Eros en las cloacas: tópicos amorosos y homosexualidad en la “Gacela del amor desesperado”, de Federico García Lorca

The poems that make up Diván del Tamaritwere initiallypublished separately at the beginning of the 1930s, andit was not until 1940 that they werepublished together in Revista Hispánica Moderna. This article proposes a close reading of ‘Gacela del amor desesperado’, addressing issues that have been insufficiently examined by critics: firstly, it explores the concept of eroticism (motifs such as labores in amore and death for love); secondly, it examines symbology; and finally, it explores the notion of abjection and homosexuality, which revolve around the semantic field of excrement and sewers, which is also present in the surrealist works of Salvador Dalí, Luis Buñuel, Maruja Mallo and Rafael Alberti. To this end, it uses conceptual tools from philosophy and psychoanalysis, such as jouissance in the Lacanian sense, without overlooking the cultural context.
