Inteligencia artificial en ortodoncia: un análisis bibliométrico

In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed the field of dentistry and, in orthodontics, the potential applications of AI can be revolutionary. In this context, the present study conducts a bibliometric analysis to assess the current state of AI research applied to orthodontics, identifying emerging trends, influential works, and future perspectives. A search strategy was employed in the Scopus database, selecting articles that address the use of AI in orthodontics. Using Bibliometrix software, 1293 studies were examined, analyzing the evolution of scientific production, the most influential authors, the journals with the highest impact and the predominant keywords. The results evidenced a significant increase in publications since 2018, peaking in 2024. Research focused on automated diagnostics, treatment planning and predictive model development. Key studies have demonstrated the potential of neural networks in dental image segmentation and cephalometric analysis. China, the United States and South Korea lead in scientific output, while Sichuan University stands out as the most prolific institution. Prospects suggest further integration of AI in treatment personalization and clinical process automation, with emphasis on advanced deep learning models. This study provides a structured view of the evolution and impact of AI in orthodontics, serving as a basis for future research.
