Tendencias emergentes en realidad virtual para el aprendizaje de Química, Biología y Ciencias Ambientales: un enfoque bibliométrico
Virtual Reality (VR) has emerged as an innovative tool in education, facilitating immersive experiences that enhance the understanding of abstract concepts. In this context, the present study aims to analyze research trends in the use of VR for teaching Chemistry, Biology and Environmental Sciences through a bibliometric approach. In this context, the present study aims to analyze research trends in the use of VR for teaching Chemistry, Biology and Environmental Sciences using a bibliometric approach. For this purpose, a bibliometric analysis was carried out based on studies extracted from the Scopus database, using the Bibliometrix tool, in addition to its web interface Biblioshiny, a robust solution that facilitates the creation of relevant visual reports. The search was limited to specific terms related to science education and VR, yielding a total of 256 documents. The results show an exponential growth in scientific output since 2016, with a significant increase in 2024. The main authors, institutions and countries leading research in this area were identified, highlighting the United States and China as key players. In addition, keyword co-occurrence analysis revealed that emerging lines of research focus on VR integration with gamification, immersive learning and STEM education. This study provides a comprehensive overview of the current landscape of VR research applied to science education, highlighting its evolution, key players and future directions, with the aim of contributing to the design of innovative educational strategies.
