Valoración económica ambiental del parque municipal summit de ciudad de panamá una aplicación del método de la valoración contingente

The Summit Municipal Park in Panama City, located within the protected area of the Panama Canal watershed, provides important ecosystem services such as carbon sequestration, refuge for the biodiversity of the area, and recreational and leisure services for its visitors. This study aims to determine the environmental economic value given to the Summit Municipal Park by its visitors, applying the contingent valuation method in two stages. In the first stage, an instrument was applied as a pilot test in two field visits to a sample of 85 visitors to the park, while in the second stage the sample will be extended to 400 people, with field visits. The preliminary results showed a recreational use value of B/. 8.24 per person, a legacy value of B/. 10, while the required compensation couldn’t be estimated.
