Voices of Narration in Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis and The Judgement
This thesis examines Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis and TheJudgement from a narratological perspective. The focus is to compare anddifferentiate the works whilst pointing out the effects of the narratologicalchoices made. The analysis is divided into four different passages found ineach of the works. These passages are the beginning, the first dialogue, theconfrontation between father and son and the death of the main character. The narratological techniques used affect not only the story but also thereader and that by manipulating the distance found between reader andstory different amounts of empathy can be created.
