Validación de contenido de la cartilla de salud “Una década de amor”, en Colombia
Background: although statistics have shown a progressive reduction in infant mortality rates, this continues to be a challenge in many countries, where health promotion and prevention seek to strengthen the skills of professionals, parents, and caregivers through validated educational materials as a strategy to reduce these sorrowful figures. Objective: to validate a health booklet as an educational material to support optimal child growth and development, aimed at parents, nursing students, and professionals. Methods: a methodological study was carried out at Manuela Beltrán University, Colombia, from August 2023 to June 2024. Theoretical methods (analysis-synthesis, historical-logical) and empirical methods were combined for the collection, analysis, creation, and validation of the material. Technical validation by experts and population (students and parents) included mathematical and statistical methods and calculation of the Content Validity Index, with an acceptance threshold of 0.80.Results: a 73-page booklet was designed, structured by life course (early childhood and infancy), tailored to the frequency and activities of the comprehensive health assessment visit. It promotes self-care and lifestyle choices and encourages the active participation of parents and caregivers in child development. Its validation showed a high level of agreement among experts, parents, and students, demonstrating a good conceptual and scientific basis for its design. Conclusions: the "A Decade of Love" booklet is a tool that improves competencies in early childhood care and contributes to higher-quality care.
