The aim of this paper is the analyses of the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the Portuguese Commercial Companies Code (CSC), introduced by the 2006 reform, in the functioning of the General Meeting (GM) of shareholders. Nearly 20 years later, this study identifies controversial issues that have led to the low adoption of ICT by commercial companies, highlights their advantages, and proposes solutions for more effective use.
