Un cineasta bajo la influencia. El influjo del Hollywood clásico en el cine de Pedro Almodóvar
Pedro Almodóvar has told several times in interviews and public statements how Hollywood classic cinema has influenced in his work. Now, how does it mean really? This paper aims to analyze it, attending to the next classification of Almodóvar`s filmography, in terms of film genre: comedy, melodrama and thriller. From this idea, we analyze the work of three representative filmmakers of these film genre (thinking these directors as authors, in a Foucaultian sense, as discourse producers): Billy Wilder, Douglas Sirk and Alfred Hitchock, which are mentioned by Almodóvar as explicit references of his career. The comparison ends contrasting the styles of these three filmmakers and the basic features of three Almodóvar’s films (Los abrazos rotos, La piel que habito y Los amantes pasajeros), taken as representative samples of these film genre in a stage of Almodóvar’s filmography located in 21st century.
