Teatro y ¿censura? La literatura dramática de lengua alemana en La Estafeta Literaria (1957-1962)
This paper studies the dissemination of German-language theatre by the famous Madrid magazine La Estafeta Literaria during its third stage —1957-1962—, in which the presence of dramatic literature from German-speaking countries was non-existent in the publishing sector. Consequently, literary magazines and the press —and, in the case of the plays that were staged, also their performances, albeit ephemeral— were the only means of disseminating German theatre during this period. The analysis of the contents of La Estafeta Literaria will be of interest when it comes to observing the state of the reception of German culture in general and theatre in particular in Spain, as well as the influence that both historical events and the financing of the magazine by the regime may have had on the aforementioned reception.
