Study of the Effectiveness of the Russian Regions Forestry Activities

The main purpose of the contribution is to study the effectiveness of forestry
\nactivities in the regions of Russia and develop measures to improve it. As a part of the
\nimplementation of this goal, the following tasks have been solved: assessment of the current
\nefficiency of forestry activities in the regions of Russia by clustering, identification of factors
\naffecting this indicator and the development of measures to improve it. The main research
\nmethods are cluster and factor analysis, literature analysis. As a result of the conducted
\nresearch, clustering of data by regions in the field of the forest industry is carried out. Four
\nclusters have been identified, differing in the values of the seven analyzed parameters.
\nThe ranges of variability, averages and deviations for these indicators are determined.
\nProfitability is singled out as a key indicator of the efficiency of the forest industry in terms
\nof resource provision. As a result of identifying significant deviations from the average
\nvalues for clusters, the most successful regions are defined. According to the results of
\nthe study, indicators have been singled out whose deviations from the average values for
\nclusters affect the final efficiency. For such indicators, using the Ishikawa diagram, the
\nfactors affecting the profitability of the forest industry in terms of resource provision are
\ndetermined. In order to increase the efficiency of the industry and based on the results of
\nthe research, comprehensive measures are proposed, the implementation of which should
\nbe a priority in this subject area
