Sociabilidade urbana e a conformação de espaços privados de lazer na cidade de Belém-Pará
This article analyzes the formation of private leisure spaces in Belém during the 19th and 20th centuries and their effects on urban sociability in the 21st century. It highlights the privatization of leisure driven by shopping centers, gated communities, and clubs, restricting access for the working class. The research followed a qualitative and quantitative approach, using bibliographic, documentary, and cartographic sources to map these spaces and discuss public policies for more democratic leisure. The results reveal patterns of exclusion and socio-spatial segregation, showing that private leisure has always been a privilege of the elites. However, contemporary initiatives have been identified to expand access, promoting a reconfiguration of these spaces and greater inclusion in the city.
