Roberto M. Gerstmann. Fotografía de arquitectura moderna entre pictorialismo y objetividad
The architectural practice of Chilean architects Vadim Fedorov and Daniel A. Jayme was published by Urbanismo y Arquitectura in 1937 through a photographic series made by Robert M. Gerstmann, a renowned photographer established in Chile since 1929. This paper explores his archives, where modern architecture and urban renewal emerged as key subjects. Away from his pictorialist approach to natural landscape photography, modern houses, the Puerto Varas Great Hotel, the main plaza in Osorno, the Los Leones Golf Club, Valparaíso and Santiago were documented under objective visual parameters, in the context of professional commissions and personal urban explorations of the changing country where he lived almost all his life.
