Relación entre Hiperkalemia y Alteraciones Electrocardiográficas en Enfermedad Renal Crónica KDIGO V sin Tratamiento Sustitutivo

Introduction: hyperkalemia can cause electrocardiographic alterations, mainly in the T wave, widening of the QRS and AV blocks, so its proper identification is vital. Objective: to determine the relationship between hyperkalemia and electrocardiographic alterations in KDIGO V chronic kidney disease without replacement treatment. Materials and methods: retrospective, single-center, descriptive, observational study; where patients over 18 years of age who were admitted to the General Hospital of Zone No. 23 who met the inclusion criteria were included. Results: of 120 patients studied, it was observed that 60.8% were men and 39.2% women, associated in 69.2% with type 2 diabetes and in 62.5% with arterial hypertension, with an average of 7.22 mEq (SD ±1.46) of potassium. Detecting a superior evolution of the 12 months in 54% (n=54) which showed electrocardiographic alterations. By applying the Pearson Chi square statistical test, we observed a relationship between hyperkalemia and AV blocks (7.83), as well as between hyperkalemia and QRS alteration (17.25), finally T wave alterations (47.77). ). Finally, a positive relationship was found between hyperkalemia and electrocardiographic alterations (p=0.05). Conclusions: Patients who had hyperkalemia did present alterations in the EKG.
