Poster: "Green Chemistry Challenge: A Green Hackathon to Spark Creativity and Promote Sustainable Practices"

Originally rooted in software engineering, hackathons have been gradually expanded to include participants from a broader range of disciplines. These intensive, solution-driven events foster creativity, innovation, and cross-disciplinary collaborations. Despite this growth, most hackathon attendees still come from software engineering or related fields. With intentional planning and design, the hackathon model can be adapted to tackle diverse problem areas, drawing on individuals from varied backgrounds to collaboratively develop interdisciplinary solutions for complex challenges. Currently, hackathons are transforming into platforms to address critical global issues, including sustainability and green innovation (Paul, 2020). Green Hackathons are promoting sustainable thinking and creating practical solutions to environmental challenges. They demonstrated how such events can transcend the boundaries of programming and the IT sector by engaging a wider professional audience. By uniting technical, scientific, and practical expertise, Green Hackathons empowers participants from diverse fields to collaboratively address pressing issues (Zapico et al, 2013).
