Peace Dynamics in the Abraham Accords - Cold vs. Warm
This study explores how the Abraham Accords have influenced peace in the Middle East, asking whether they pave the way for a lasting "warm peace" or remain grounded in a more practical "cold peace." The research focuses on two key areas of interaction: tourism and trade between Israel and the countries that signed the accords—the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan. By looking at trends in tourism and trade, the study examines how these agreements are shaping relationships on the ground. It highlights developments in travel, such as the opening of new flight routes and visa policies, and considers the flow of visitors between Israel and the signatory states. On the trade side, the analysis looks at the increase in bilateral trade volumes and the types of goods being exchanged, giving insight into the economic ties that have emerged since the accords were signed. This research also identifies obstacles and opportunities for building stronger connections between the participating nations. It emphasizes the importance of bridging societal gaps and tackling skepticism surrounding normalization. By delving into the complex dynamics of these agreements, this study aims to provide a deeper understanding of what peacebuilding looks like in a region long defined by conflict but now seeing new possibilities.
