Representación de la ciudadanía en las coberturas mediáticas del paro nacional de 2022 en Ecuador

This article addresses how two Ecuadorian media, one private and the other community media, elaborated coverage of the National Strike of 2022 against the government of Guill-ermo Lasso, constructing different perspectives of citizenship, one liberal and the other closer to republicanism. In the methodological area, we have reviewed the audiovisual coverage of each media during the strike and we have analyzed how the subjects and their interactions have been presented; the verbal texts expressed by the subjects in conflict and the media itself; as well as the staging. It is observed that the private media tends to disseminate a story that condemns the social mobilization, through a diversity of sources and arguments; while the community media chooses to support the strike but from the exposure of the protests, where the image has a lot of weight, but the story is limited. In conclusion, the private media achieves a broader positioning of liberal citizenship, while the community media does not share in its coverage analytical elements that allow understanding of the causes and argu-ments of the mobilization.
