Prospecção tecnológica das terapêuticas veterinárias em mamites subclínicas por meio de busca em base de patentes
The aim of this research was to conduct technological prospecting regarding the therapeutics of subclinical mastitis occurring in veterinary medicine through patent database searches. The search was conducted in major national and international patent databases with free access. The results indicate that the majority of patents (55.6%) originate from the USA, where 68.9% are from companies. Most of the patents (64.4%) are proposed for use in dipping and are of synthetic origin (55.65%), with a prophylactic and therapeutic purpose corresponding to 66.7%, showing antibacterial activity (64.5%) with a bacteriostatic effect (48.9%), and lacking sanitizing action (66.7%). The majority of the target species were dairy animals, with cows accounting for 17.6%, sheep for 11%, goats for 10.6%, and buffaloes for 9%, and use during lactation corresponding to 53.3%, with veterinary indication reaching 51.1% of the patents. These data revealed that most innovations focus on providing antimicrobial alternatives aimed at treating and controlling subclinical mastitis. However, it was noted that the number of patents with inventions based on natural products is still low, which may generate demand for pharmaceutical formulations containing these types of compounds. Therefore, the research provided a prospect of quantitative data as a dissemination of technological knowledge with economic applicability for scientific support in future studies on the therapeutics of veterinary mastitis.
