Prolapso vaginal em vaca no período pré-parto – relato de caso
Vaginal prolapse is the externalizationof the organ through the vulva, where the exposed mucosa may suffer trauma, dryness, laceration and necrosis. It is one of the main conditions that occur in the postpartum period of ruminants. The etiologies involved in this condition are diverse, such asrelaxation of the vaginal fixation system, increased intra-abdominal pressure, anatomical defects, hormonal disorders, obesity, inflammation in the vulvar region and hereditary predisposition. Since it is a hereditary disease, the ideal is to avoid reproducing this animal. Regarding treatment, it is surgical and the prognosis depends on the severity of the condition and the time elapsed since its onset. The objective of this study is to describe a case of vaginal prolapse that occurred in a zebu cow, during an extracurricular internship in a city in the northwest of the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
