Política Educativa sobre las Trayectorias: Desafíos en la Transición de Primaria a la Secundaria
This article presents, from a mixed approach, the complexities of the educational transition between primary and secondary education, a process that impacts educational trajectories when students face processes of change. Some changes determine only the passage from primary education to the beginning of secondary education; for other students, this trajectory is reflected in school dropout, repetition, fail/pass, over-age, and changes in cognitive, emotional and social development. Despite Colombian policies such as free education, the transition from 5th to 6th grade (elementary school to middle school) shows limited adaptation. The study, focused on the perception of students in Medellin, uses the questionnaire to identify challenges such as the increased of educators and assignments, new roles and the change of institutional dynamics represented by school schedule and course load. Emotional and social adaptation are challenging. The thematic coding result from the theoretical review and the experience in the school environment to present the data. It is emphasized that the accompaniment of teachers is key for the transition, as they are the convergence of demands, responsibilities, rules, science disciplinarization, pedagogical practices and classroom management. Educational policies for the benefit of educational trajectories are reviewed.
