Producción y reproducción en contextos laborales divergentes. Un análisis comparativo de trabajadoras astilleras y cosecheras
1,300 km separate the female lemon harvesters of Tucumán from the female workers of the Río Santiago Shipyard in the city of Ensenada. Despite the differences between the agrarian and the industrial, the public and the private, and the rural and the urban, questions around labor inequalities and the crisis of social reproduction emerge in both case studies. This article analyzes the intersections between production and social reproduction in women harvester and shipyard workers between 2015 and the present, taking into account: 1) labor inequalities, from the forms of hiring, labor discrimination, and differences in working hours; 2) the differentiated impacts of the crisis of social reproduction and its link with the sphere of production; 3) the workplace as a space of organization and articulation of demands, where the intersection between the spheres of production and reproduction crystallizes. The comparative study of two cases allows us to evidence certain points of contact in the realities of working class women in Argentina today, and points of divergence that show two very dissimilar faces and realities in our country. We carried out this study from the approaches of the theory of social reproduction looking at the workplace, but also beyond it. The methodology used consists of a qualitative methodological design and a comparative approach between both cases, based on in-depth interviews with workers in these sectors, and consultation of audiovisual archives available on the Web, as well as journalistic news, laws and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
