Optimera användbarhet i digitala produktpass : Ett användarcentrerat tillvägagångssätt
As the European Union prepares to implement mandatory Digital Product Passports (DPPs), there is an increasing interest in how to understand how these tools are actually used in practice. While much attention has been given to technical standards, usability is still an underexplored aspect. In this thesis, we investigated how different interface formats, text-based, infographic, and interactive affect users’ ability to interpret and trust sustainability related information. Our field study was conducted in collaboration with Wareflex, a logistics company in Vietnam. We developed three high-fidelity DPP prototypes and tested them with 30 participants through usability tasks and interviews. The results showed that infographic and interactive formats were not only preferred but also helped participants complete tasks more efficiently and confidently. Instead of concentrating solely on regulations or backend structures, our aim was to look at DPPs from a user’s perspective. The study provides concrete design insights that can help developers, policymakers, and businesses make DPPs more accessible, especially in practical use cases where clarity and trust are key.
