Mejoría Clínica de Pacientes Operados de Cadera por Pinzamiento Femoroacetabular Mediante Artroscopia en el Centro Médico Naval

Objective: The objective of this study is to determine if patients who undergo hip arthroscopy for a diagnosis of femoroacetabular impingement experience a statistically significant change in their functionality in activities of daily living, sports and in general before and after surgery. . arthroscopy. Methods: A total of 12 patients were analyzed, obtained from the records of patients who underwent hip arthroscopy between 2015 and 2024, who had preoperative evaluation and postoperative follow-up by applying surveys for at least 1 year with the subscales activities of daily living (ADL) and sports activities (SS) from the Hip Outcome Score (HOS) scale, and the modified Harris Hip Score (mHHS) functionality scale. Results: 12 patients were analyzed, of these five were female (42%) and 7 were male (58%), with a mean age of 46.5 ± 14.1 years, with a body mass index of 26.25 ± 3.04 kg/m2. 17. Characteristics indicative of the degree of activity in relation to the status of civil or military regime were also analyzed. Regarding the military setting, ten patients (83%) and only two civilians (17%) were included; Finally, the most common type of hip impingement was considered as an indication to perform this procedure. The most frequent type was the Cam type with six individuals (50%), followed by Pincer with four individuals (33%) and two had mixed impingement (17%). Patients experienced significant improvement after arthroscopic hip surgery. Patients experienced significant improvement for the HOS-ADL, HOS-SS and MHHS scales (P<0.005). MCID was achieved in 83.3% of patients for HOS-ADL, 91.6% for HOS-SS, and 83.3% for MHHS. PASS was achieved by 41.6% for HOS-ADL, 41.6% for HOS-SS, and 58% for MHHS. Conclusions: It was observed that patients after at least 1 year of hip arthroscopy surgery for femoroacetabular impingement improved considerably. Arthroscopic treatment in patients diagnosed with femoroacetabular impingement is effective and safe. Therefore, it is recommended to perform this procedure for all those patients who are diagnosed with this diagnosis and thus avoid the limiting consequences that this condition can generate in the long term.
