Nivel de conocimientos sobre protección radiológica en el personal de enfermería del quirófano mediante la escala sp-hpkrp
Background: The use of ionizing radiation is an indispensable resource in the operating room for diagnostic and treatment procedures. However, exposure to these radiations entails risks for both patients and healthcare personnel, making it important to assess the level of knowledge about radiological protection among those working in this environment. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge about radiological protection among nursing staff in the operating room through the application of the Sp-HPKRP scale, with the purpose of identifying areas for improvement and promoting training interventions. Materials and Methods: This was an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, and prospective study conducted in July and August 2024. A total of 33 nurses, selected through non-probabilistic sampling, completed the HPKRP scale (Sp-HPKRP). Tests of normality, descriptive statistics, and association and correlation analyses were performed. Results: Of the participants, 54.5% were classified as having “Poor” knowledge, while 45.5% showed a “High” level of knowledge. No significant associations were found between the level of knowledge and variables such as age, years of work experience, sex, or educational level. Although there was a slight trend toward higher scores among those with prior training, this difference was not statistically significant (p = 0.308). Conclusions: Most of the nursing staff show insufficient knowledge regarding radiological protection, highlighting the need for the implementation of specific and continuous training programs that strengthen radiological safety. The fact that prior training emerged as a possible modulator of knowledge levels underscores the importance of reinforcing educational strategies in this area.
