La inteligencia emocional en la toma de decisiones de la administración pública del GAD municipal de Riobamba

In the Municipal Government of Riobamba, emotional intelligence is not adequately integrated in decision making, which negatively affects institutional management, the work environment and the quality of public service. The objective of this research is to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence and the decision-making process in the context of the public administration of the GAD Municipal de Riobamba, using standardized tools for the evaluation of these variables. A quantitative approach and a transversal non-experimental design were used to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence and decision making in 28 civil servants of this institution. The TMMS-24 and TTD instruments, both validated and reliable, were applied. The analysis used descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation, and respected ethical criteria such as confidentiality and informed consent. Among the main results, it should be noted that in the Municipal Government of Riobamba, different levels of emotional intelligence and a predominance of impulsive and rational decision-making styles were observed. No significant correlations were found between emotional intelligence and decision-making styles, possibly due to the small sample size. It is suggested to extend the study with a larger sample and mixed approaches.
