Inteligencia emocional y burnout en árbitras de fútbol de categoría nacional
Introduction: Emotional intelligence and sports burnout are two key concepts in sportspsy-chology that can significantly influence the well-being and mental health of female football ref-erees.Objective: The main objective of this work was to analyze the relationship between levels of emotional intelligence and the burnout syndrome in a sample of female football referees from different national categories in Spain, based on the hypothesis that higher levels of burnout correspond to lower emotional intelligence.Methodology: A cross-sectional, descriptive, and correlational study was conducted on asam-ple consisting of 138 female football referees from different national categories (mainreferees or assistant referees in the Women's First Division, Women's First Federation, or Women's Sec-ond Federation), with an average age of 24 years. The instruments used were the Athlete Burn-out Questionnaire (ABQ) and the Trait Meta Mood Scale 24 (TMMS-24).Results: The results show that the three subscales of the burnout instrument correlate with the dimensions of emotional intelligence. Conclusions: It is concluded that higher levels of emotional clarity and emotional repair are related to lower levels of emotional exhaustion, devaluation of sports practice, and reduced feelings of achievement.
