La Huerta Escolar Como Estrategia Pedagógica para Comprender la Crisis Ambiental y Seguridad Alimentaria con Estudiantes de Grado Quinto de Básica Primaria de la Institución Educativa Técnica San Juan Bautista de la Salle

Pedagogical strategies aimed at rural communities are relevant because they promote behavioral changes and improve their quality of life. In this regard, the main problem at the San Juan Bautista de la Salle Technical Educational Institution is related to the lack of implementation of pedagogical strategies, resulting in an increase in local environmental pollution and a lack of awareness among primary school students about the benefits of school gardens and agricultural processes. To address this problem, this research's main objective was to design and implement a pedagogical strategy based on a school garden for fifth-grade students at the San Juan Bautista de la Salle Technical Educational Institution. The methodological approach of the proposal was based on a qualitative approach and Participatory Action Research (PAR). Priority was given to understanding students' reality and their participation in the learning process. The target population was fifth-grade students. Among the main results, it was identified that the pedagogical strategy using the school garden allowed for a deeper understanding of the life cycle of plants, the importance of sustainability and environmental care through practical activities carried out in the garden, and the active and participatory methodology, based on direct experience, increased children's interest in learning and exploring concepts related to agriculture and sustainability. In this way, the school garden facilitated awareness of the importance of environmental care and fostered values such as responsibility, respect for nature, and community collaboration. It is concluded that the integration of pedagogical strategies related to the garden contributed to more meaningful learning in areas such as science, mathematics, and social studies, through contextualized and practical activities.
