Intervención Didáctica para Fortalecer el Uso de Estrategias de Cálculo Mental a través de la Gamificación con Estudiantes de Grado Segundo de Educación Primaria

Today's world demands that people be competent, have critical thinking, be analytical and versatile. Mathematics is a fundamental factor in this training, therefore, the development of skills such as mental calculation is essential within the school, since mental calculation is essential for agility and precision in handling numbers and operations, and its systematic practice is closely related to the development of analysis and critical thinking. These mathematical and cognitive skills are essential for academic success and to confidently face the challenges of the contemporary world, for this reason and with the aim of strengthening mental calculation strategies in second grade students of Primary Education, an innovative intervention based on gamification was implemented through playful activities that included the use of manipulative didactic material and some technological resources, introducing game elements such as overcoming obstacles, levels, badges and prizes. This approach allowed students to face challenges in a fun, motivating, participatory and collaborative way. The combination of these elements proved to be highly effective in improving mental calculation and promoting significant learning in the educational process.
