Impacto de la inteligencia artificial en el rendimiento académico y su relación con la deshonestidad

The research assesses the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the bimodal teaching-learning (TLA) process, exploring its relationship with academic performance and highlighting its relevance as a potential indicator of academic dishonesty. The study is based on the premise that unethical use of AI could enhance academic results, thus generating a "false negative." A literature review was conducted, and surveys were administered to 200 architectural students at the Universidad Nacional de Chimborazo (UNACH) to identify the most commonly used AI tools and analyze their impact on motivation and academic performance. The results show that students use AI tools moderately, primarily those focused on content creation and presentations. However, no significant correlation was found between AI use and academic performance, indicating that, regardless of ethical or unethical use, AI does not produce the academic effect some users might expect. The article highlights AI's potential to enrich the educational experience and warns of its risks, although no evidence was found of its effectiveness in terms of academic performance. Finally, the study reflects on the possibility that other unconsidered factors may influence the relevance of this technology for improving student performance.
