Integración de Expresiones Artísticas en las Técnicas de Lectura: Estrategias para Afianzar la Comprensión Lectora en Estudiantes de Grado Octavo
This article presents research carried out at the Francisco Walter Educational Institution in Meta, Colombia. Its main objective was to enhance eighth-grade students’ reading comprehension by integrating artistic expressions into reading techniques. The proposal arose from the need to address low performance in literal, inferential, and critical comprehension levels, alongside a notable lack of motivation toward reading. In response, pedagogical strategies were implemented that merged traditional reading methods—such as intensive, detailed, and oral reading—with artistic forms of expression, including theater, music and visual arts. The study employed a qualitative approach with participatory action research, allowing for the observation of meaningful transformations in students’ reading processes. Results indicated that 85 % of students reached an adequate level in literal comprehension, 80% improved in inferential understanding, and 70 % developed critical reading skills. Furthermore, students showed increased emotional engagement, active participation, and improvements in oral and body expression, particularly among those with special educational needs. The study concludes that integrating art into reading practices strengthens comprehension, fosters inclusion, and transforms reading into a more meaningful, creative, and engaging experience.
