Influencia de la Inteligencia Emocional en el Rendimiento Académico de Estudiantes de Bachillerato en la Unidad Educativa Eloy Velázquez

This study examines the impact of emotional intelligence on the academic performance of high school students at the "Eloy Velázquez Cevallos" Educational Unit. To do so, a mixed approach was used that integrated qualitative and quantitative methods, based on surveys, interviews, and academic records of 40 Accounting students and 14 teachers. The findings reveal that students with higher levels of emotional intelligence not only obtain better academic results, but also develop greater resilience, self-regulation skills, and a more effective ability to manage stress. Likewise, it was identified that emotional intelligence has a positive effect on the confidence to participate in class and on the ability to establish healthy interpersonal relationships. These results underline the relevance of including the development of emotional competencies in pedagogical strategies, with the aim of enhancing both academic performance and the comprehensive well-being of students. On the other hand, teachers stressed that promoting emotional intelligence is essential for the comprehensive development of students and constitutes an essential pillar in the educational field.
