Gestión pública y manejo de residuos de construcción en Pasco: Evaluación, hallazgos y propuesta de escombrera para sostenibilidad urbana
This research analyzed the management and handling of construction and demolition waste (CDW) in the city of Pasco (2019) and examined how the executing companies participate in this process. Twenty-nine landfills were identified at seven road access points, with an approximate volume of 1,850 m³ of CDW. A mixed-method approach, with a correlational descriptive level and cross-sectional scope, was applied, surveying 50 people, including public officials and company representatives. Questionnaires and field observations were used, along with Spearman's Rho statistic, to analyze ordinal qualitative data. The results indicate that public management does not significantly impact the final disposal of waste and that CDW disposal practices show moderate compliance. The research proposes strengthening the planning and supervision of entities, as well as designing a landfill that improves final disposal and reduces environmental impacts. These findings provide a quantitative overview of the magnitude of CDW on access roads to the city and highlight the need for more effective institutional coordination. The study suggests that authorities and companies should coordinate efforts to optimize the management and handling of CDW, and considers that the proposals can serve as a reference for other Andean cities with similar conditions.
