Finlands sak är vår? : The Role of Finland in the Social Democrats’ Argumentation for NATO Membership

This thesis used Political Discourse Analysis to describe the role of Finland in the Swedish Social Democrats’ argumentation for a NATO membership. By focusing on what key figures in the Social Democratic Party said publicly in 2022 between the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the formal Swedish application to NATO, we identify how Finland was a central part of the argument. Both in terms of an ally and object of solidarity, but also as an actor that affected Swedish security.
