FORMATION OF PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS’ ENVIRONMENTAL COMPETENCE THROUGH ECO-COMICS
The article presents a practical solution to the issue of developing environmental competence among primary school students through the use of eco-comics in lessons of the integrated course “I Explore the World”. The necessity of applying new educational methods and techniques for the formation of primary school students’ environmental competence is substantiated. An experimental system of exercises aimed at the formation of environmental competence through eco-comics is developed, theoretically justified, and implemented into the educational process within the integrated course “I Explore the World”. A six-component structure of the exercise system using eco-comics is identified and characterized. The methodology for integrating these exercises into the educational process is described with specific examples, highlighting the distinctive features of each exercise and the expected outcomes of student performance. The effectiveness of this system for the formation of primary school students’ environmental competence through eco-comics is confirmed by statistical data from a control experiment, which has demonstrated an improvement in the level of primary school students’ environmental competence.
