El papel de la isla de Cerdeña en sortear los obstáculos en el viaje a las Indias de los jesuitas extranjeros en el siglo XVII
As demonstrated by Raimondo Turtas in his work published in 2009, between 1613 and 1760, Sardinia dispatched to the Indies 111 Jesuit missionaries from the island; a considerable contribution to the epic of the Society of Jesus in the Americas and the Philippines, considering that at that time the land only numbered approximately 300.000 souls. Up to the Spanish Succession war (1701-1714), Sardinia was part of the Aragon Crown and therefore missionaries from the island were not affected by the legislation which prohibited or restricted the departure of foreign jesuits to the Indies. Considering its “legal” status, in the XVII century, Sardinia was able to play a role till now ignored, facilitating the departure of non-Sardinian jesuits to America and the Philippines, further contributing to the evangelization of the Indies
