Factores de Riesgo Relacionados con el Desarrollo de Onfalocele en Gestante: A Propósito de Un Caso
Omphalocele is a congenital malformation of the abdominal wall, due to a failure in the closure of the lateral mesoderm region, which generates protrusion of the abdominal viscera of the newborn through the umbilical area. Objective: to identify the risk factors associated with the development of omphalocele in pregnant women, to improve maternal and child health and reduce the burden of this congenital defect in families. Methodology: Clinical case of a pregnant woman at 38 weeks of gestation, with a diagnosis of fetal omphalocele. The patient's clinical and obstetric history and examination results were reviewed to determine risk factors. Conclusion: It is concluded that omphalocele is a multifactorial pathology, in which there must be exposure to different risk factors in order to develop. Among the main risk factors found are the toxic habits of the parents, highlighting the consumption of narcotics, the lack of prenatal controls, teratogens, a family history of omphalocele, being a factor that further enhances the development of a pathology of this index in another member of the family circle due to the associated genetic component.
