Fritidsledares perspektiv på ungdomskulturer och gangsterrap i utsatta områden : En kvalitativ studie om fritidsledares syn på ungdomskulturers utveckling och gangsterrapens roll inom kulturen.

The purpose of this study was to create an understanding of how youth culture in vulnerable areas was shaped and influenced, with a particular focus on the place and significance of gangsta rap within the culture. Based on this purpose the following two questions were asked: How do leisure leaders describe how youth cultures in vulnerable areas are shaped and influenced? What role and significance does gangsta rap hold within youth cultures in vulnerable areas, according to leisure leaders? Through semi-structured videocall interviews with five leisure leaders from vulnerable areas in Sweden, the purpose and questions of the study were addressed. For the study, the concepts of Bourdieu´s theory on different forms of capital were used including symbolic, cultural and social capital forms. The results and analysis of the study showed that leisure leaders observed how youth culture in vulnerable areas was influenced and shaped by social and cultural factors present in the area. Among these factors gangsta rap was highlighted as a particularly strong influence, manifested especially through clothing choices, language styles and deviant behavior.
