Diagnóstico y Manejo de la Inestabilidad del Carpo. Revisión de la literatura
Carpal instability can be defined as the inability of the joint to withstand physiological loads, causing subluxations. It is multifactorial in origin and is usually difficult to diagnose. Due to this, the Mayo classification is presented, which classifies carpal instability into four categories: dissociative, non-dissociative, complex and adaptive. One of the most effective diagnostic methods is radiology using advanced imaging modalities such as computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. However, adequate management of the patient and its results directly depend on the precise interpretation of the imaging study. Although conservative treatment may be effective in mild cases, more severe injuries, especially in dissociative carpal instability, require surgical intervention to prevent functional deterioration and the development of long-term complications.
