Efectividad de la ejemplificación en el desarrollo del pensamiento crítico en educación
This study on the effectiveness of exemplification in the development of critical thinking in education highlights that this teaching strategy is fundamental for fostering higher-order cognitive skills in students. Through the use of clear and contextualized examples, students can connect abstract concepts with everyday situations, facilitating the understanding and application of knowledge. The survey of 20 secondary school students reveals that, although examples are generally valued positively, their effectiveness could be improved in terms of clarity and connection to academic content. Sixty percent of students find examples interesting but sometimes confusing, while 70% emphasize the importance of examples relating to everyday situations. Examples also encourage active participation in class, as 50% of respondents state that they give them confidence to express opinions. Furthermore, 60% of students indicate that examples make them reflect on previous ideas, demonstrating their potential to stimulate critical thinking and self-reflection. On the other hand, the lack of examples in classes negatively affects students' interest and understanding, as 65% mention that they get bored when examples are not used. Students' suggestions, such as allowing them to provide examples or including more examples that generate discussion, underscore the need to encourage greater participation in the learning process. In conclusion, exemplification is an effective strategy for promoting critical thinking, but its effectiveness depends on its proper implementation, clarity, and relevance in the educational context, as well as the active involvement of students in the teaching process.
