Effekten av projektledning på hållbarhet och lönsamhet : Ett fallstudie om Hemsös utveckling av Kristiansborgs området
Introduction: This study aims to identify the connection between project management and sustainability in projects. It investigates how project management can influence both the profitability and sustainability of construction projects. Today, sustainability has become a central concern worldwide, especially in the construction industry, where project management plays a crucial role in balancing environmental, economic, and social objectives. This study focuses on the new buildings and redevelopment of Kristiansborgsbadet in Västerås as a case study. Method: A case study approach was used, focusing on the new buildings and redevelopment of Kristiansborgsbadet in Västerås. Data were collected through structured interviews with key stakeholders involved in the project, a survey targeting users of the swimming hall and surrounding buildings, and document analysis. LCA and LCC were also used to supplement the findings. Results: The interviews revealed that project management decisions had a strong influence on both environmental and financial outcomes. Wood was used where technically possible to reduce climate impact, while concrete was chosen in areas requiring higher strength and to keep costs low. The survey showed positive results among the facility users, particularly regarding improved safety. Conclusion: This study concludes that the early integration of sustainability principles in project management can lead to benefits in both the economic and environmental aspects of a project. By aligning material choices with functional and financial needs, project goals can be achieved. The project also had a significant positive impact on the Västerås community, with many residents expressing satisfaction and appreciation for the redevelopment results.
