Construcción Sostenible en Tarapoto, Perú: Retos y Oportunidades en un Contexto Amazónico

Sustainable construction in Tarapoto, Perú, is considered an important response to environmental and urban development challenges in the Amazon region. Tarapoto, located in the tropical region of Peru, faces the challenges of high humidity, high temperatures and frequent rains, which require architectural solutions that respect the natural environment and reduce environmental impact. This article examines the sustainable building practices and strategies used in the city, focusing on the use of local materials, bioclimatic design methods, and the use of renewable energy. Through qualitative analysis, which included interviews with local architects, engineers and builders, as well as research on existing projects, the most important opportunities and barriers to the implementation of sustainable buildings in the region were identified. One of those options is to use local materials such as wood, bamboo and adobe, which not only adapt to the tropical climate, but also contribute to environmental sustainability and boost the local economy. Additionally, the combination of solar energy systems and water efficiency strategies became a viable solution to reduce the region's energy consumption and the environmental impact of homes. However, there are important obstacles, such as the high initial cost of sustainable technologies, the lack of technical training of local professionals and the limited implementation of public policies to promote green buildings. Despite these challenges, the future of sustainable construction in Tarapoto is bright, as long as supportive policies, education and collaboration between the public and private sectors are promoted. The study concludes that, despite the economic and social challenges of sustainable construction in Tarapoto, solutions based on local materials and renewable technologies have great potential to transform the urban landscape of the region, helping to build a more resilient and sustainable city. responsible.
