Compliance e a governança corporativa como instrumentos de prevenção a desastres socioambientais

This article aims to analyze how compliance and corporate governance, in a structural process, can prevent socio-environmental disasters, based on what was found in the public civil actions proposed in relation to the disasters that occurred in Mariana (MG) and Brumadinho (MG) and, in particular, based on the measures that were taken by mining companies in both cases. The article argues that compliance and corporate governance provide sufficient instruments for disaster prevention, provided that they are endowed with direction, implementation, goals, coherence, accountability and evaluation.
