Diagnóstico del manejo de residuos de aparatos eléctricos y electrónicos domiciliarios en la población urbana de Jaén-Cajamarca-Perú

The general objective of this research study was to carry out the diagnosis of the management of household waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in the urban population of Jaén, arising from the problem of the exponential increase of WEEE and its inadequate management, especially in the city of Jaén. The application of surveys was carried out on a sample of 639 users served by Electro Oriente, obtaining as a result that 38% of those surveyed sell their WEEE to recyclers' organizations, whether formal or informal, showing that the requirements are not adequately complied with WEEE management stages. In addition, small appliances and information and telecommunications equipment represent 53% of the unused devices reported in the households surveyed. Regarding the level of knowledge, only 15% stated that they do know about WEEE; On the other hand, the percentage of correlation that exists between certain socio-demographic characteristics with the level of knowledge regarding WEEE was obtained, since those who range between 25 to 39 years old have greater knowledge about the subject (21%), while the 23% of respondents with completed higher education were aware of the consequences of mishandling this waste.
