Here is a part of memories of Lev Alexandrovich Tihomirov (1852–1923), an outstanding Russian investigator of the Circassian accident. His extremely important intellectual heritage was available because of the works of the modern historians – firstly M. B. Smolin.Memories of L.A. Tihomirov represent a double value. First of all, as evidence of a human who was born in 1852 in Gelendzhik and saw the tragedy with his own eyes. Secondly, as a qualified analysis and unbiased assessment of events that cause heated debate. Using the formula «Exile of Circassians» L. Tihomirov was first in Russian historic science who raised the question of genocide of Circassian people during the war in the Caucasus.
