Virtual and Augmented Reality in Stage Practices: Comprehensive Study of Technological Experience

The purpose of the research is to determine the potential of using virtual and augmented reality technologies in the stage space to identify the impact of immersive technologies on the artistic space. The article analyses the technological problems of implementing virtual and augmented reality technologies in the stage space and ways to solve them. The research methodology is a combination of several methods: analytical – for studying the literature, systematising sources and identifying key trends; theoretical and conceptual – for analysing the conceptual and terminological apparatus of the study and identifying the specifics of the implementation of VR and AR technologies in cultural and artistic practice; comparative and typological – for comparing AR and VR technologies, reviewing the results of previous studies and identifying general patterns; systematisation method – for summarising the results. The scientific novelty is to determine the possibilities of using virtual and augmented reality technologies and creative methods to create an interactive and immersive experience in order to optimise the experience of practical application in the stage space. Conclusions. The penetration of VR and AR into artistic expression is not free from challenges. Research is needed to overcome hardware limitations, complex software development, and ethical issues. Augmented reality is a modern design tool that provides an opportunity to optimise various stages of the overall process. Thanks to the active development of digital technologies, the possibilities of modelling and visualising 3D objects constantly expand, and the technology is becoming more accessible to the general public. The author emphasises the need for a more detailed consideration of the possibilities of using augmented reality directly in the designer’s design work, as modelling from this perspective allows for faster decision-making – developing and evaluating different options. Thus, augmented reality technology has significant advantages over virtual reality and has every chance of dominating the interior design space.
