Occupational Therapy Training Application
Problem: OT students rely on static case studies and limited lab access for adaptive equipment design practice, limiting hands-on rehearsal and consistent feedback. Background: A 3D interactive app integrating motion capture and quizzes can broaden experiential learning and reinforce biomechanical knowledge. Methods: In Unity, we built a 3D app featuring: 10 Activities of Daily Living across kitchen, bedroom, and office scenarios, Blender-modeled humanoid avatars rigged with Rokoko captures, A quiz module with 12 multiple-choice questions on range-of-motion and muscle function, A React Native/Firebase front end for mobile/web access. Status/Development: Core environments, avatar animations, and quiz functionality are complete. Detailed documentation and user-training materials are in preparation. A usability pilot with 30 students is scheduled for Spring 2025. Implications: This platform is poised to enhance OT curricula by delivering scalable, feedback-driven simulations that complement traditional lab exercises.
