Homo covidensis - кмет у надзорном феудализму
This paper outlines the possible paths to a data-driven world and explains what the “digital transformation” might bring to people and humanity, including the rise of surveillance feudalism. It explains that the Covid-19 pandemic accelerated social processes and highlighted trends that were already evident in the past, such as spending increasing amount of time indoors, interaction through information and communications technologies, and fear of contagion and contamination, which enabled the transition to a risk and surveillance society and solidified technological platforms for data collection. Finally, the paper proposes an alternative socioeconomic model based on data ownership. The latter would stop the one-way flow of data, prevent constant surveillance and control, and create a platform for a more equitable and just data-based economy.
