When Science Meets Art

A Thought-Provoking Evening with a Scientist and an Artist What happens when an artist and a scientist join forces? Does artistic freedom hinder science, or does it enrich it? And can science, in turn, serve as inspiration for art? Sammy Baloji and Filip De Boeck know the answers. The duo has been collaborating for years, exploring how people lived in the past and how they live today in a bustling city like Lubumbashi (Congo), the birthplace of Sammy Baloji. Their work has resulted in the book Suturing the City and an upcoming publication. During this talk, the artist and anthropologist will share insights into their work and process.
