Photoelectrochimie pour des applications énergétiques
Humanity faces a critical challenge: using renewable energy sources that can replace fossil fuels. Among the potential solutions, solar energy stands out as the most promising. Artificial photosynthesis, by mimicking the natural process, converts sunlight into clean fuels and valuable chemicals, offering a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative. This thesis explores two main approaches: the valorization of urea, an abundant compound in wastewater, through photoelectrochemical oxidation to produce hydrogen while promoting water purification, and the study ofredox flow batteries (RFBs), a green technology inspired by natural photosynthesis, to efficiently store solar energy. Another aspect is the use of a photo-fuelcell for the synthesis of a molecule used as an electrolyte component in batteries. The research presents results on metal/insulator/semiconductor (MIS) junctions as photoactive interfaces, and the use of perovskite/silicon tandem cells, aiming to enhance solar energy conversion and storage systems.
