Piezoelectronics: Supplementary Renewable Energy
This project explores the feasibility of using piezoelectronics as a supplementary renewable energy source. By utilizing the properties of piezoelectronics, energy can be passively generated from mechanical stress that would otherwise go to waste. Such as the weight and motion of a vehicle. In this project, piezoelectric elements are integrated into the tires of a vehicle in order to convert the pressure and deformation being applied to the piezoelectronics into electrical energy, which can then be fed back into the battery. This project aims to assess the viability of this method in a small-scale example. If successful, this approach could contribute to more sustainable energy solutions by capturing and reusing wasted mechanical energy. This method, or similar methods, could be adapted for use in other everyday machines and objects in order to improve battery life and renewable energy.
